Royal Wedding 2011

Planned and implemented network infrastructure and technical solutions for the contribution of images and live video from key locations around Westminster Abbey and Buckingham palace.

Installed connectivity and remote still image cameras inside Westminster Abbey used to capture images from key points of the Royal Wedding ceremony.

Master control and studio

Created and implemented a solution to bring the control of ingest and play-out into an agency newsroom. This involved the decommission and replacement of a broadcast MCR with a new configuration that could be controlled by Journalists and technical staff, remotely from desktops in the newsroom and studio control areas.

A new digital radio and video facility was constructed that could be operated by one journalist to meet several different scenarios.

Local television news

Designed a scalable national network and workflow for the contribution of video from Journalists, and the delivery of a live nightly news programme to a range of digital platforms.

The technical solution and narrative formed a key part of a bid made to the UK government by a joint venture called News3 that included the Press Association.

Media Asset Managment and workflow automation

Specified and implemented the MAM system DaletPlus, this enabled journalists to work collaboratively. The roll-out involved a gigabit extension to the corporate network, the specification and installation of a NetApp SAN, hardware and software installation, workflow design and training.

Alongside and following the MAM installation further architecture, development and system installation enabled store and forward contribution from journalists, integration with an Avid NLE, and the development of a batch scheduling system to enable 3rd party integration.

Assets can be contributed from the field, and delivered to customers automatically based upon workflow and meta-data triggers. Video files are transcoded into many different formats based upon customer requirements and system configuration, and archived with meta-data for retrieval.
